This information was gathered by Frostheim and can be found in full here @ The Hunters Union.  Warcraft Hunters Union is an amazing guide that is well written and easy to understand. All quotes copied from Petopia a wonderful resource on updated information about pets and all things pet related. If you haven't visited these sites I please ask that you do.

For the hunter, your pet is your single most important choice in terms of game play. If you haven't been to Petopia I suggest you go there now. If you are new to playing a hunter I also suggest reading this guide : Choosing a Pet. As a Marksman Hunter we can rule out the exoctic pets for general purposes but remember this, no one choice is the right choice. Be happy with your pet and or pets. They are indispensable and will always be there for you no matter what.

All that being said.... my focus here will be pvp. As such we are told that cunning pets are the preferred pet class when fighting other players whether it be in Battle Grounds or Arenas. Once in an Arena Bracket the pets role becomes much more specialized. Your pet will equip you with much needed support depending on which classes your up against. Having an arsenal of pets at your disposal will indeed increase your chances of winning more and you should become used to changing your pets on the fly.

 Cunning PvP Pet Choices
